Together WE can achieve success!
Ideally, when should my dog start training?
It is imperative for all to understand that socialization and environmental exposures should precede any training program. Nevertheless, we encourage an introduction to behavioral modification techniques/training from as early on as 4 months of age. We do encourage obedience training once a dog starts to developmentally mature at approximately 6 months of age. We are in the business of confidence building and creating an environment that offers a wealth of positively enriching experiences for our trainees. We do not encourage an environment in which a dog constantly meets failure. Therefore, Protection training is recommended for dogs that have successfully undergone obedience training only.
Is my dog capable of successfully achieving any type of training?
Temperament, drive, socialization skills/environment, physical conditioning and age play key roles in achieving success during training of any kind. Training is only as effective as an owner’s desired goals and commitment to reinforcement. Through the proper evaluation of your dog, which is completed by a qualified trainer of World Class K-9’s pool of trainers, we will formulate a customized training program that is appropriate for you and your dog. Our commitment is to what can be achieved rather than what cannot be achieved. We train for solid proofing and owner handling by utilizing consistent praise and reward practices, which builds a strong handler-trainee bond. We emphasize relationship building first and training second.
Should I expose my dog to other dog’s and people outside of immediate family?
Just as people are social animals, so too are dogs. Early and consistent socialization amongst people and other dogs achieve several desired goals:
1.Exposure to environmental stress factors to reduce fear of the strange and the unknown.
2.Respect for older and younger dogs, freedom, objects and people.
3.Learning experiences to add to a balanced temperament and tolerance level.
4.Increased comfort ability around people, other animals and various environments, which
minimizes temperament instability and insecurity.
Will my dog be vicious and dangerous once trained for protection?
Contrary to the misleading information perpetuated by many, a dog properly trained for protection is able to assess strangers to seek out a threat. Protection dogs who have been appropriately trained for obedience and who have had consistent socialization, unmistakably knows its purpose and will not assume a dangerous or uncontrolled disposition. A well-trained protection dog will fearlessly protect his owner/family and/or property with loyalty and devotion without aggression but rather with control and training as drivers.
How long is World Class K-9’s training program?
Training durations can vary depending on a number of different factors including but not limited to a dog’s responsiveness, aptitude or intelligence levels, etc. However, each phase of training is generally completed within an 8-12 week time period.
What is the cost of your training programs?
Training is individualized; therefore, fees may vary depending on several factors. Detail pricing may be formulated by contacting our office at 770-388-0471(International and Domestic )or 678-656-4583 (Domestic).
Are your trainers qualified?
Each of our trainers is highly qualified, skilled and experienced. Each trainer brings a variety of different case scenarios and involvement to our facility. Each handler is evaluated and pre-screened prior to hire.
How is training reinforced once a program has been completed?
An owner’s commitment to reinforcement training is the ultimate long-term defining factor as to how successful pet training has been. Do not be misled, NO TRAINER, can guarantee the everlasting effectiveness of training. You as the owner must be committed to executing handling your newly trained dog with the techniques provided during your “pick up” evaluation. Constant and consistent communication about your dog’s progression is essential to keeping you, the client, informed. Do not hesitate to present us with any questions regarding your dog’s training or progress during the training phase or after a training program(s) has been undergone.
Is the use of non-verbal corrections involved in your training programs?
Corrective collars are frequently used for training purposes to achieve control not to inflict pain. Firm corrections are a very humane and productive manner of altering a dog’s response without abusing the dog or injuring the dog. We compassionately provide services to each of our trainees. The well being of your dog is primary. Abuse will not help us but hinder us in our attempt to achieve desired results. Do not be fooled, a dog suffering abuse is evident. We strongly protest the use of abuse to achieve training results. We strongly encourage you to monitor your dog’s behavior once trained. If properly trained, your dog should be proud, confident and joyful.
